6th Annual Gravy Bowl to benefit Children’s Cove
Hyannis, MA, November 14, 2007: The 6th annual Gravy Bowl to benefit Children’s Cove will be played on Tuesday, November 20 at 6:30pm at the Sandwich Pop Warner Football field on Quaker Meetinghouse Road.
The Gravy Bowl is a “friendly and competitive” flag football game between members of the Cape & Islands District Attorney Office and the Massachusetts State Police versus area defense attorneys and the Sandwich Police Department. The Gravy Bowl, always played the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, was conceived by and is still “captained” currently by Terry O’Connell, defense attorney and retired Sandwich Police Department sergeant and Brian Glenny, First Assistant District Attorney.
Admission to the Gravy Bowl is free. Donations will accepted. A post-game reception with food and refreshments will be held at the Sandwich American Legion. For more information please contact Children’s Cove at (508) 375-0410.
Children’s Cove, a department of Barnstable County, is in its 10th year of operation as the child advocacy center for the Cape & Islands. Multidisciplinary services, specialized by discipline, are provided by partner agencies including Barnstable County, the Office of the Cape and Islands District Attorney, Cape Cod Healthcare and the Massachusetts Departments of Social Services and Mental Health. In 2006, Children’s Cove provided services to 316 victims and their loved ones.
