Community Education

Children’s Cove’s commitment to the safety of children extends beyond the services at our center.

As a Barnstable County organization, part of our mission is to provide free awareness and prevention education to members of the Cape & Island community. We recognize that they best way to respond to child sexual abuse, is in the prevention of it. By educating the community, we hope to reduce the epidemic of child sexual abuse.

As a central resource for information and assistance, we offer a variety of educational opportunities for to community organizations, faith organizations, clubs, community centers, and concerned citizens in areas such as:

What is Children’s Cove?

Participants will receive an overview of Children’s Cove services to the community, why we exist, and how we partner in the community.

Recognizing Signs and Symptoms of Child Sexual Abuse

Participants will have an increased knowledge of the varying aspects of child sexual abuse, the dynamics of disclosure and optimal response to abuse.

How to Talk with Children About Sexual Abuse and Body Safety

Participants will learn skills about how to have conversations with their children of varying ages about child sexual abuse, and ways to keep themselves and their bodies safe.

Online Safety for Children / Teens

Participants will learn about online dangers, how information sent online does not disappear, ways in which children and teens can be exploited, and how to safely use online services and apps.

Who are Predators: The Facts

Participants will learn real world information about those who exploit children, grooming processes, and ways to keep children safe.
