Our Commitment

Children’s Cove is committed to ensuring our website is accessible to all visitors, including people with disabilities. We believe everyone deserves equal access to information about our services, programs, and resources.

We are working to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA — the internationally recognized standard for digital accessibility.

Conformance Status

Our website is conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA, with the exception noted below.

What We’ve Done

In preparation for our website relaunch, we engaged an independent third-party auditor to test our site against WCAG 2.1 Level A and AA criteria. Testing covered six core pages — Home, About, Education & Training, Get Involved, Event Detail, and Get Help — as well as global header and footer components. All identified issues were remediated prior to launch.

Known Exceptions

The Events Calendar (third-party plugin)

Our events listings are powered by The Events Calendar, a third-party WordPress plugin. Certain accessibility limitations exist within this plugin that are outside of our direct control, including keyboard dismissal behavior for dropdowns and the order in which some elements are presented to screen readers.
We have implemented all accessibility improvements available to us within the plugin’s constraints, and we are monitoring updates from the plugin developer. In the meantime, all event information is available upon request.

How We Tested

Our site was tested by an independent auditor using the following configuration:

  • Operating system: Windows 11
  • Browser: Chrome
  • Screen readers: NVDA 2025 and JAWS 2021
  • Additional tools: Bookmarklets for Accessibility Testing (BAT), Color Contrast Analyzer
  • Test types: Keyboard-only navigation, color contrast, 200% zoom, text spacing, and screen reader evaluation
