Sexual Exploitation of Children

At Children’s Cove, the identification and safety of a child that is at high risk to be a victim of sexual exploitation, child sexual abuse material (child pornography), sextortion, or  Commercial Sexual Exploitation (CSEC) is a top priority. Children’s Cove believes that a victim-centered multidisciplinary team (MDT) approach for children that are at risk for exploitation is the most effective.

Team members at Children’s Cove work collaboratively with the MDT once a child has been identified or suspected as a victim of sexual exploitation to coordinate the safety, risk-reduction, medical care, mental health, substance misuse, or other placement needs for the child. Children’s Cove provides ongoing follow-up with the child and family to provide support services if needed. Team members provide consultations for caregivers and professionals when a child believed to be at risk of being a victim of sexual exploitation.
