Whether a child has come to Children’s Cove for a forensic interview or if there are concerns about a child’s behavior because of trauma we can coordinate support. Much like a child who has received an injury on the playground, the impact of trauma requires treatment and care. Our Mental Health Coordination program maintains a Cape Cod & Island Trauma Informed Provider Network (TIPNet). We work directly with hundreds of specially trained trauma informed clinicians who we refer to for therapeutic supports.
We recognize that we serve a diverse population all across the Cape and Islands. Every child has a unique personality and they should be matched to a clinician that is a good fit for them, and local to their community. We work with non-offending caregivers and child victims to talk about preferences they may have, health insurance, locations and times to find the best fit for a clinician.. We also follow up to ensure therapy is going well and if there needs to be a change in providers.
Furthermore, we know that the impact that the abuse of a child has on a parent, caregiver or sibling is also traumatizing and challenging. Children’s Cove will make referrals for non-offending caregivers to receive their own therapeutic supports, if requested.
Our Mental Health Coordinator works hand in hand with our Family Advocate to ensure that the entire non-offending family unit receives the care, supports and services they need to promote the healthiest outcome.
