Mental Health

Whether a child has come to Children’s Cove for a forensic interview or if there are concerns about a child’s behavior because of trauma, we can coordinate support. Our Mental Health Coordinator makes referrals directly to our TIPNet providers, who are specially trained trauma-informed clinicians from across the Cape and Islands.

Every child has a unique personality. We talk with the child and non-offending caregivers about their needs, preferences, health insurance, location, and availability to find the best fit for a clinician. We also follow up to ensure that therapy is going well and whether any additional mental health services are needed.

Furthermore, we know that childhood abuse also impacts a child’s family. Our Mental Health Coordinator can also make referrals for non-offending caregivers and siblings.
