Professional Training
The Children’s Cove Education and Outreach program aids in recognizing, reporting, and responding to child sexual abuse. This program offers free training to partner agencies including law enforcement, emergency medical services, private and public schools, local colleges and any professional agency requesting outreach services across the Cape & Islands.
Children’s Cove is dedicated to enhancing the capabilities of those individuals and agencies who work with children. As a central resource for information and technical assistance, we offer a broad array of educational opportunities for agencies, organizations and the community, including:
Recognizing and Responding to Child Sexual Abuse
Participants will demonstrate an increased knowledge of the varying aspects of child sexual abuse, the dynamics of disclosure and optimal response to abuse.
Mandated Reporting
Participants will understand their responsibility as a mandated reporter.
Sexual Behavior and Development of Children
Participants will demonstrate an increased knowledge of the varying aspects of the sexual development and behavior in children of varying ages.
First Responders to Sexual Assault and First Complaint
Participants will understand their roles best practice procedures in responding to sexual assault as well as their obligations under the law.
The Medical Response to Child Sexual Abuse
Participants will learn about medical response services provided at Children’s Cove, the Pediatric Sexual Assault Nurse Exam, and how our focus on healthiest medically evident outcome.
Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children
Participants will demonstrate an increased knowledge of indicators and risk factors of commercial sexual exploitation of children and how we work with our community partners to prevent as well as respond to abuse.
